Hopelessly ballsing this up..

Probably not the best way to begin.. Let’s say I should have realised when I poured Tango all over my books this morning (lid not screwed on properly) that it might not go my way!

Instruments pop quiz: 20 mins to answer 20 questions.. SURPRISE! 😲 I even had some warning yesterday, but alas, I wasn’t prepared! I thought, perhaps, common sense and process of elimination might help or maybe I actually had the knowledge.

Twenty minutes goes bloody quickly! It’s barely enough time to read the questions.. In conclusion, I achieved 13 out of a possible 27 marks (48%).. 75% is the pass mark and this isn’t even the whole course.

I seriously questioned what on earth I was doing and was this a terrible decision on my part?!! (TBH this is a, more than I should admit, regular thought!)

However, in my defence, I will probably have the greatest improvement scores when we come to do our progress tests, in two weeks! 😁

This has most definitely been the biggest kick in the butt ever to get my act together and pass ground school with flying colours. We all need one moment and I really hope this is it! Wish me luck!

My brain calls it quits..

Today has been a tough day, and that’s not just because of the ridiculous timetable!

It’s only the start of week 3 and my brain is already failing me! It’s so enormously saturated with information, I don’t think it can take anymore in! And we have progress tests in 3 weeks… FFS!

Our course is made up of two phases during Ground School, which splits up the 14 exam subjects equally (some of the individual lessons merge for one exam).

I was really convinced I was getting the hang of it; feeling pretty confident in my learning abilities! How wrong I was…

Because we have such a limited time to learn so much, we go through the course material at quite a fast speed, and that’s fine. However, trying to retain the information is becoming a bit of a struggle, or it was today! My brain has been on Netflix and chill for so long, it’s having a slight problem readjusting.

We were informed, last week, that this is expected and not to panic; we will get there in the end! But, bloomin’ eck…it doesn’t half scare you, when you have put so much effort into getting here and by week 3 your brain has thrown in the towel!

I’m keeping calm and carrying on, and spending money on question banks to help me ace these exams!

Fingers crossed my brain catches up with the demands and doesn’t turn to slush any time soon. It can do that once I’ve graduated and the plane flies itself! I’m just a very well paid passenger with a great view!

The beginning of the future of my life..

On January 27th, after waiting exactly 2 weeks, I received an email informing me of whether or not, months of revision and years of dreaming will have actually paid off and I was going to be a pilot. Continue reading “The beginning of the future of my life..”

Inauguration Day

Now, I was very opinionated about the American election campaign, and when I went to sleep on election night, I knew it was going to go the same way Brexit went. My phone didn’t have as many disappointed messages as post-Brexit, but after that miserable affair, I think in our hearts, we knew America was next for bad luck.

However, I was determined not to get involved with American politics again.

  1. because I barely follow my own…and
  2. I don’t have a clue what is going on and hopefully it won’t affect me.

Spoke too soon. Continue reading “Inauguration Day”
